Dear friends:
I wrote this song to try to find in my grief and sorrow some sense of
direction...a way to go...a way to make some sense of what has happened.
Aloha e is the title and can be translated as....yes, love indeed!
Aloha oe... the first line of the chorus....a fond farewell to all those
that we lost on September 11th.
Aloha eia la...we send our love, our aloha, to all over there who are
suffering this loss.
Aloha e...we affirm that yes...love indeed! is the answer. Please download
this and share it with your friends and loved ones.
Aloha......Jesse

On this recording, Jesse skillfully blends Hawaiian music with his signature
folk rock sound. He begins and ends the song with a traditional kahea
chant, and fills in the middle with tracks from his ukulele, six and 12-string
guitars (including one with a slide), his fretless bass, congas and other
percussion instruments, and a viola. His wife, Connie, an accomplished
orchestral performer, played the viola, marking the couple’s first
time ever recording together. Local musician Vito Truglio, formerly of
the prominent Seattle-area band “Napier’s Bones,” sang
background vocals, while cultural expert and Hawaii native Leilehua Yuen
provided authentic Hawaiian chanting. In a magical moment during that
recording, doves flew past an open window of the studio, and their call
was captured on tape.
